upped the volume since the last meet (for both the ipod AND the training) and added more raw training.
starting to see a little bit of improvement - 45lb bar weight PR in ME box+chain since September

couple more PRs to round out the week:
• 150+45ch raw DE box squat (up 15 lb on bar weight)
• 105+45ch DE bench press (finally back over 100lb bar weight with contrast since trashing shoulder)

... attributing the PRs to increased Christmas chocolate consumption. :)

all the details in the usual spot:

Happy holidays, y'all!!

and Santa, just in case you're reading this, any chance you'd consider giving me a respectable deadlift for Christmas this year?
Pleeeeeese!

tonight it became obvious Santa does not read my training log as he did not bring me a respectable deadlift this holiday season. would love to do another meet soon but really don't want to get back on the platform til my deadlift is fixed. thanks to Cliff and MCL for being my eyes tonight and giving me lots of feedback to work with. all help gratefully accepted and appreciated on future deadlift nights from anyone who has a few spare moments and wouldn't mind volunteering some feedback for continued progress towards fixing my form.

There just might be some truth to the old saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
11/15 - a misloaded 190lb in reverse monster minis came down wrong and injured a shoulder
1/24 - came back and locked out 185lb with reverse monster minis. all healed up with a 5lb PR over prior max.
thanks to everyone who gave me lots of great advice about rehab. seems to have worked.

maybe time to start playing in the shirt again....

made a little progress with lockouts:
slingshot - 20lb PR (175 -> 195)
DE bench w 30 lb chains - 20 lb PR (95+30ch -> 115+30 ch)
tho ME bench pinned at 130+30. ??

maybe time to put the fat shirt on one more time, build patience enough to touch without dumping, then dial in the competition shirt.

Unexpected deload last week initiated by work and extended by the latest plague of the month circling the office.

Decided to test geared squat progress after the week off:
• 265 w/ knee sleeves
• 285 w/ knee wraps ( mine )
• 305 w/ knee wraps ( mine )
• 315 w/ KNEE WRAPS ( Cliff's )

Takeaways:
• raw work and volume work made the squat feel way more solid coming out of the hole.
• overloading contrast helped with walkout and rack. walking out didn't feel overly heavy so i was able to get a good foot setup. Was also actually able to walk the bar back into the rack on the last one rather than need help from my spotters. last couple times i maxed on squat my legs were shaking so much at the end i couldn't step forward.

funny how even tho the raw conventional deadlift is making progress (within 10 lbs of suited conventional deadlift max) when you have a specific goal in mind (315 lb) the little gains just aren't big enough.

log updated, but still have lots more work to do...

Yesterday had first completely pain free bench day since messing up shoulder with a bar misload in November. ...finally!!
Valuable lesson learned: double check the bar load when approaching your max weight. Hard to believe one small pull took this long to heal.

Thanks to Mario and Jake for helping me take a shot at 145 for a few 2-board and 1-board rep sets.
