george's training log

Postby george » Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:57 pm

Need to stop training on auto-pilot. Time to set a plan, bust through the current long-standing plateaus and get that elite total.

The old training log has been resurrected and updated with this week's training. highlights:
- 145lb pin press
- ssb box squat greater than 300lb at top (220 bar + 90 chain)

all the details are here...

as of Monday's ME training i seem to have run out of self-imposed mental hurdles for squat progress...

Free squat, full gear:
• squat 300 reliably - done. solid 305 with just knee sleeves - no wraps
• squat 3 plates. - done. a hair high, but solid 325 with knee wraps
• attempted 335, came forward. Didn't feel impossible tho. Next time!

onwards and upwards.

this and the rest of the fun has been recorded in the log:

Log has been updated to include week 8/14-8/19.

Highlights:
• geared up for deadlift. form getting better. hit a solid 305. tried to go after 315 twice with no luck. in hindsight should have tackled 310 first.
• 150lb chest-height pin press. maybe all the additional accessory work is finally paying off. thinking about shirting up next week.

All the accessory details in the log...

week 8/21 - 8/26
highlights and lowlights...

ME lower:
not a great start to the week. tried using SSB in mono with full gear to take a little stress off the shoulder. not my best idea. threw off unrack form a lot. almost missed racking bar after lift 3 times. Was able to at least pull off a 310lb squat.

ME upper:
week got a little better. put on Katana for first time since April
a few 2-board PRs:
- 225lb, 245lb, and 255lb. up from 210 in April.
took it down to 1-board
- 235lb completed, but not pretty, fought the shirt a bit
- 245lb lost it trying to touch
- 255lb touched and pressed ok but ran out of steam about an inch or two from lockout.
first time working with a really jacked shirt, thanks to Greg and Bill for some awesome shirt handling, need to work on mastering it

DE lower
straight bar + chains with briefs. worked up to 205lb + 75lb chains.

a little light on accessories this week. but what i did is here:

log updated to include week of 8/27-9/2

highlights:

ME lower
• PR 275lb straight bar squat in briefs
• added some super-tight knee wraps and 30lb of chain for PR #2 for the night

DE lower
• raw squat day trying to loosen up the hips a bit - 125lb on bar + 45lb chain. needs work.

see the log for all the accessories

log updated to include week of 9/3-9/9
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... VRQRDZpZkE

highlights:

ME lower
• finally hit a solid 325 to depth in full gear. does maintaining weight and increasing depth count as a PR?

ME upper
• bench + chain. maxed at 125+60lb chain. 10lb bar weight PR.
(tried a subsequent lift with another set of chain. missed. probably should have added the 2's for a bar weight increase instead.

DE upper
• 110lb straight weight triples. 15lb PR.

Plan for next two weeks:
- week 1: max out full gear
- week 2: deload

Another swing at the open elite total at the SPF meet 11/4
Another miss.

Rest week complete.
Log has been updated with meet results.
Ready to begin the next training cycle.
Gonna lift old-school for the next 4, maybe 6 weeks: mostly raw adding in some of the less conventional moves i set aside during meet prep.

Online log still at:

working through shoulder injury last few weeks. finally almost back in the game.
overhead press finally working again - 65lb for reps
hoping pushups (and flat bench) will start feeling comfortable again soon. still not so happy today.

same log. same place. more updates.
